: SACRAMENTO — Where did they go?

Hey Squeegee,
This story comes as no surprise to folks that live near the S.F. Bay Delta.
Uncounted millions of gallons of Delta water are shipped daily, south to water the Central Valley and to quench the thirst of Southern California.
Combine this with polluted water, mis-managed water allotments, and a VERY powerful group of lobbists from the farmers and SOCAL and there is really nothing surprising about this situation.
Also, there are rumors of reviving the Peripheral Canal. This would be a diversion of water, lots of water, from above the Delta to be shipped south. This would cause severe pollution and salt water intrusion in the area.
Since the Delta is where the juvenile smolts spend most of their time, figure how it will affect the young salmon.
Who says that 'Special Interest' groups don't win?
DICS
