: What exactly makes him an elitist? Is it that he is extraordinarily intelligent? Magna Cum Laude at Harvard and president of the Harvard Law Review are indeed impressive. But does that make him elitist? He was raised by a single Mom with help from her parents who valued and stressed education but it was through scholarships and not family wealth that he was able to attend prep-school and college. Nothing elitist there unless being smart and educated is something to be disparaged.
: What I see in Senator Obama is a willingness to listen and hear what people tell him and then he focuses his bright mind on the problems at hand. He isn't telling people he will fix all their problems; he is encouraging all of us to work together for the common good of this country. Many people are hurting economically here, in the mid-west and all over the country. And yet, Right-wing politicians have been stirring up emotional issues like gun control, abortion, immigration and gay rights in order to mask their true economic agenda that protects corporations and the wealthy. This has worked for them. They've gotten many of the lower and middle income voters to vote against their own economic interests this way. This is what Sen. Obama is referring to and he spoke the truth.
: Also, his original statement was made to a small group of people in a closed door meeting in answer to a question. It was not in a planned speech. As he said, he expressed his thought perhaps inartfully but nonetheless truthfully.

Thank you.
I would love to have Obama as our President, seriously, I feel him very refreshing (if that's a value), I trust his intelligence, he opted for no-vote when at risk of confrontation-just-for-the-sake-of-it, he looks very civil, his plans are what you can expect to be said now, but he would be reduced to shreds up there as president.
He would be demanded by minorities to act on reparations-and if he didn't he would be insulted and defenestrated in a dime-, he would be demanded to bomb Iran, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and... you got me-and if he didn't he would be lynched for black-antisemite, the whole economical disaster on the wings would be blamed on him, can you imagine what those hyenas Hannity, Matthews, Wallace, would do to him?
See? That is my line of thought.
Then, my summary is: Even though I consider Obama slightly better than Hillary, I would be spitting to the ceiling, if I vote him-it would fall on me.
And a vote in this critical moment of history is important.
